Hello to the new kitchen floor
By Saturday, July 16th, we were ready to lay the flooring. Here is where we made a big mistake, and we’ll be correcting it eventually (before we install the new cabinets for sure). We should have put down another layer of sub floor over the ¾” sturdy-floor. Had we put hardwood flooring down, we would be fine. However the 3/8” laminate does not add enough stability. With the click-fit, it won’t be a big deal to take the floor up and put down ¼” sub floor underneath. It’s plenty stable right now, but hubby is concerned about what it may be like 5 – 10 years down the road.
We got the seams leveled
And put down the pad.
The actual installing of the floor was real easy, but we had almost nothing to cut around. That “click-fit” system works very well, very tight seams.
We set up the miter box on the patio – and it got quite hot that weekend.
Oliver found a cool place to rest – I was not impressed!!
By Sunday evening, we had the floor installed.
Now we could start moving the kitchen to its new location.
